The Time Step, the foundation of which
tap dancing is built and the means by which the rhythm is based. During the
early days of tap dancing there were as many time steps as there were tap
dancers and each had there own distinct sound, with all but, one
purpose..........TO KEEP TIME! |

|
For those new to tap dancing Tony Curtis has provided a
brief explanation of what the time step is and its history in the section
'The Time Step'. This section provides some of the main aspects of this
repetitive basic combination that is the Time Step. Tony demonstrates, with a
few video clips, the various basic variations of the time step and the
different rhythms that can be extracted from it. Tony seldom employs the time
step in his improvisations, but he believes that all aspects of the art
should be learned and appreciated as it will enable your understanding and
appreciation of what has gone before. Tap Dancing, hopefully, will continue
to grow with new contributions from new up and coming innovative tap dancers
that continue make contributions to the art and pass on the Heart, Soul and
Rhythm on to the next generation of tap dancers. |

We hope this site will be entertaining as well as educational
to all those who were unaware of the long history behind this addictive art. Please
enjoy our little contribution to the art of tap dancing and join us on a
journey of tap PAST, PRESENT and FUTURE.. |
