Savion Glover is the most recent in the long line of great innovative tap dancers, who through out his young tap life was fortunate enough to be around some of the most prolific tap dancers of this century. Getting historical insight and advice from some of the known and less known great tap dancers like Jimmy Slyd, Buster Brown, Honi Coles, Sandman Simms and Gregory Hines, those are just the ones known by us.

Even at a young age, like the Nicholas brothers, Savion showed great promise and was even able to secure a part in that great tap film of 1985 'TAP!'. He went on to appear in stage shows and became good friends with Gregory Hines, who is possibly one of Savions greatest mentors. He was also fortunate enough to appear in a stage show called 'Jelly's Last Jam' with Gregory.

Savion appeared in a season of the famed 'Sesame Street' where he showed his tap dancing and associated it with some of the programs themes. Gregory also appeared on the show with Savion as shown in the clip above, where he demonstrated slow and fast for kids.

Savion is always hard at work practising and perfecting new steps and moves to be used in various improvised performances or choreography or to be used in one of his many projects. Savion also instructs in workshops and has had his own tap group performing at some of the many tap events in the US.

He is usually present at many of the big tap celebrations held through out the year when his time permits. It is through many of these appearances that Savion developed a reputation for impressing other well established tap dancers with wonderfully innovative Rhythmic tap combinations.

In his project, 'Bring in De Noise Bring In Da Funk' Savion voices many of the frustration's experienced by many of the Afro-American tap dancers of the 30's, concentrating on view's not publicly aired but always hidden behind an insincere smile. Through ground breaking and though provoking dance segments the story of the struggle was given a voice.

Savion Glover has gone from strength to strength even entertaining the president of the United States at one point, in his dance career. As well as appearing in some other less well known films Savion still seems to have a lot more to give us from his seemingly limitless talent.
